Starships: Meant To Fly

Ok in this case Tardis travels through time.  It was called a "ship" at one point, right?
I will be very honest with all of you.  I've never seen any of the Doctor Who series.   I am clueless to any of the the Doctor Who factoids.  Sorry guys.  However, I do know that my friend Haley of The Zen of Making is a huge fan.  When I think of Tardis, I pretty much think of her.  She's even made a Tardis dress!  All you Doctor Who fans need to check that out.  Now that's what I call DIY fashion.
Just thought I would show you all my newest crafty creation.  Since I liked the idea of making things light up like the Titanic hat, I did the same for this.  It reminds me of a lamp or night light. Well, this is going off to Haley - hope she likes it!!

For those that are curious: I made the light up Tardis out of cardboard.  I cut out the windows and laminated a sheet of white tissue paper for the opaque windows and glued them inside (tissue paper between two pieces of heavy duty clear shipping tape will work also).  I poked a hole on the top and cut the tip of a plastic blue pen for the light on top.  I painted the Tardis dark blue with acrylic paint (a few coats) and once it dried, I used a Sharpie to put the panels under the windows.  I also cut a square of the fine print in a magazine for one of the panels.  Then, I slathered on a coat of Mod Podge as a finishing touch to make it shiny.  I printed out the "police public call box" and laminated it, cut it, and glued it on above the windows.  I had battery operated lights and strategically placed it inside the Tardis, one of them is glued inside the pen tip on top.  Sorry that I don't have a step by step tutorial for this.  Most of the time when I'm crafting I usually "wing it", so I hope this at least gives everyone an idea of the process.
