Birthday ReCap

Last week was my Birthday.  Here's a little re-cap of my Birthday week.   Since the temps went down to the 20's last week, it took alot of effort for me to be outside, so there were some small celebrations.  Let's just say that I need to get back into the swing of things since I feel like all I've been doing is eat. 

That's ok though, Birthdays only come once a year.

Special Day Off

I've been M.I.A.  I know.  I think this cold weather here in the northeast is giving me blogging-lag.  Yeah, that made sense to me.  Anyway, I am celebrating my special day today.  I even took the day off from my 9-5 just because.  I just wanted to wish you all a happy Friday and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.  If you live somewhere near me...stay warm!

My big day is coming up, and I've yet to decide what I'll be doing to celebrate.  So many options came up from some of you on my last post about my Birthday month.  I really should decide soon just in case reservations should be made...or I can really just wing it.

My husband and I have been talking about going to one of the local wineries.  Maybe this would be a great opportunity to go try some CT made Pinot Grigio..and some cake.

Birthday time is always a great excuse to try out one of the fancy restaurants nearby.  I love itty bitty skewered meats, dim lighting, strong cocktails...and some cake.

Other options not included: karaoke, bowling, brunch, shopping, and spa time.  Honestly I'd be happy with any of the above..as long as there's you know what....cake!!

Besides family holidays and vacations during the year, I equally get excited during the month of January since it's my birthday month.  I'm not quite sure what I will be doing to do this year, but I know that I am going to celebrate no matter what..pretty much all month because I want to.  My birthday is going to be on a Friday this year which means that I have the opportunity to party (age appropriately) all weekend.  Any suggestions?

Happy Birthday Hubby

Today I just want to take the time to celebrate my husband, T's birthday!  My one and only is finally the same age as me again...he's a little younger by a few months.  We've celebrated his birthday for many years, and today we will party it up by going to his favorite restaurant and enjoying some German beer.  Here's to my love - wishing him a happy happy birthday!  Kamsahamnida.  Mahal kita.

Party it Up Sesame Street Style

C is for cookie...ok let me stop right there.

You may know already that this past weekend was my college friend's daughter's birthday party and the theme was, you guessed it...Sesame Street.  My friend Joyce was full of ideas that she's gathered and has thrown one fabulous birthday party fit for little toddlers and their parents.  She put together everything from the signs, decorations, to favors that all had the Sesame Street theme.  And she had the birthday girl do a few outfit changes as well!! I always love a great party with good food, creative decor, and lovely company!

Sign Says: Sesame Street

My friend Joyce was planning a birthday party for her two year old.  She told me about it about two months ago and we texted back and forth about her theme's details.  Her daughter loves Elmo from Sesame Street but wanted the party itself to be more colorful instead of one colored theme, so she decided on having a Sesame Street party for her little toddler.  As a crafter,  I thought what is a Sesame Street party without the iconic lamp post??  With some cardboard from boxes, duck tape (I love colored duck tape!), a styrofoam ball and some plaster of paris, I made a personalized street sign for the little one's celebration.  Did I already mention that I love duck tape?!

A Super Duper Mario Birthday Party

This past weekend my husband and I traveled to Massachusetts for our friends' children's birthday party.  When we arrived, we were greeted with a house transformed into a video game - Super Mario Brothers style!!! I'm not so sure if it was the kids' idea or the parents' idea haha but it was still awesome!  With handmade question mark goodie bags filled with chocolate gold coins and mushroom tins filled with candy, stuffed Koopa Troopa turtle shell toys, hand crafted question mark pinata, homemade mushroom cupcakes and candy stars, helium balloons transformed into different characters in the game, a castle wall with a flag, and the pièce de résistance was having all three kids dressed up as Mario, Luigi, and Princess Toadstool!!! HELLO?!  What an awesome party it was.  The children who attended enjoyed the theme, and the adults were so impressed with the different details reminiscent of the childhood (and current) game.  Various songs were also downloaded as background so that everyone who attended the party can sing it in their sleep too.  Well done Del and Ping!  Bravo!  My friends and I always thought that they were craftiest couple in the group!

Weekend Birthdays and Banana Wontons

Going to New York City is always a good time.
Since it was a beautiful day for a drive, it was even better.
There's so many places to check out in the city, but I haven't really had the
chance to explore that much of it.  It's all good.  There's always next time!

My sister and I went to our cousin's little three year old's birthday party.  Yes, a room full of more that twenty toddlers running and jumping around!! After and hour and a half, I was pretty exhausted.  They are balls of cuteness and lots of energy.  Phew!  It's not a party without favors, right?  I HAD to make favors for this party... ok, I didn't have to.  However, since I started this tradition last year, I had to do it again this year!

My weekend ended with some shopping, and an early dinner with the husband.
