Tres Leches

This past Thanksgiving I tested out a new dessert recipe that I found online by Sandra Lee who has the Semi-Homemade show on the Food Network.  That is definitely my kind of cooking when I'm pressed for time.  When the holidays rolls around I usually end up making my tried and true recipes which is most often made with chocolate...because I just like chocolate!  This time, I wanted to make something different but easy.  The tres leches recipe is definitely a dessert that doesn't take a lot of time, but it does require some refrigeration preferably a few hours or overnight.  If you want to try something new and different and want to wow your guests, definitely try this recipe!
tresleches1
Fresh off the oven! Pretty much like a simple yellow cake.
tresleches2
Tres leches = 3 milks
tresleches3
TIP: Poke lots and lots and lots of holes!!
tresleches7
TIP: Pour the three milks mixture slowly and evenly.
tresleches4
Refrigerate overnight to make sure the cake soaks up all of the milk.
tresleches5
Toasted coconut can be omitted, but it added great texture and flavor.

Looks pretty tasty, though I tend to take issue with this "semi-homemade" notion.
Why have we evolved into a country that needs a box in order to bake?

I'm not saying you do - just that Sandra Lee should not be making money off this idea which promotes processed foods and laziness.

That looks incredible! Such a unique recipe with the milk being poured on top but the coconut is the best part of it all! I'm adding this to my list of recipes to try out. :)
